Just when you think, “wow I have some time on my hands” and “wow I would love to see this blog become more focused and streamlined,” you stumble upon a challenge. The SITSgirls are hosting a ProBlogger 31 days to a better blog challenge through their BlogFrog community.
Today is day 1, and the task is to create an elevator pitch. For those of you who are wondering what an elevator pitch is, let me explain. In the time it takes you to ride an elevator you should be able to say who you are and what is your focus.
I guess the real question is how long is the elevator?:)
Question 1: What is your elevator pitch?
For a long elevator ride my pitch would go something like this “The Sierra Home Companion is the everyday realities of being a fireman’s wife, mom, homeschooler, and fitness coach.”
For the short elevator my pitch would be “Life doesn’t get more real then this.”
Question 2: Did completing this task change your blog, or change the way you think about your blog?
The word “goal” has been coming up a lot lately, and it has made me think about what my goal is for this blog. I think this challenge along with this first lesson has encouraged me to seek a goal, and more importantly to write it down. This was a great first step in streamlining and I am looking forward to what this blog will look and feel like after 31 days.

Short and succinct. I love it. And to the point, so i know what to expect upon reading your blog!
I’m having trouble with the whole goal piece as well. I’ve never really thought of my blog in terms of goals and plans.
Good job.
I like it! I especially like the short one. It’s true…what could be more real than this. Great job and good luck on your goals SITStah!!
I didn’t sign up for the 31 day challenge due to time. But I think you’re on the right page. Looks like a great start with the elevator pitch. Best of luck.
Great pitch – I love the short one. Short, sweet and to the point.
Determining a goal for my blog has been hard, but I’ve decided not to sweat it too too much. I started blogging for me, and while I do want readers, I also want to be true to who I am.
I think your elevator pitch is great!
Blogging is such a personal expression of who we are. I find I like goals in all areas of my life, but others don’t work that way. To each his own.
Thank you for stopping by.

Mary,
I can assure you I am not making the 31 days every day, but the posts I am doing have been worth the time. Thanks for stopping by.
