There are a lot of firsts in a child’s life. A first time to walk, talk, eat, hold your hand, make a new friend, ride a bike, wash their own hands, and go to school. I have been blessed to be a part of every first my son has had in his 5 years of life, and I am thrilled to be there for his first day of Kindergarten.
For those of you new to my blog, and for those reading it for the first time, I am continuing my sons education here at home. Homeschooling is a personal family decision and one you should never take lightly, so I never want to sound like this is the only way, but it is our choice for now.
Tomorrow morning is Monday August 23rd and its our first official day as homeschoolers. I am filled with excitement and fear, and he is just excited. Here is what our day might look like.
Our classroom. It will improve as we progress.
He shares the classroom with the gym, so I am sure as the year progresses the walls will be less white and the floor will have less room.
The Weaver is our main curriculum.
J's new bible, which will be his text for the year.
Even though J cannot read yet I wanted to get him a bible for the big kids.
A great coloring book of the Old Testament.
I found this old coloring book at a yard sale this summer and new I had to have it. It looks like it’s never been touched, and for what I need its perfect. Short sentences with great illustrations.
Rocket Phonics
This curriculum caught my attention because it is game based learning, and for a little boy who never sits still I was so excited to find such a program. I did need my husbands help understanding how to teach phonics, hey it’s been awhile.
Math will be online through Time4Learning.com
At this point in J’s life counting is one of his favorite activities, so although he’s only in Kindergarten I wanted to nurture his love of numbers.
A weeks worth of lessons.
One of the benefits for me using The Weaver is the Day by Day lesson plans. I have someone else helping me plan a day, and right now that is awesome.
Its really moms Day by Day box.
This box has everything we need for one days worth of school, and every night I’ll refill it for the next day.
One of the reasons we decided to home school was because I am a mom who loves those firsts and I want to be there when he first learns to read, write a word, memorize scripture, and see the look of satisfaction in knowing the answer. I feel so blessed to have this opportunity, and I wholly commit it to the Glory of God.

We start next Monday~ my eldest girl is going into 2nd and my youngest is starting Kindergarden…
